In fifth grade, students are the leaders of our school. They are role models to younger students. There are expectations for behavior, academics and social interactions. Meeting these expectations will help build a learning community that ensures all students feel welcome and safe.
Students will use the District 73.5 Student Skills Rubric to set goals and monitor their learning behaviors. Your child's scores will be reported out on each trimester's report cards. |
Behavior ExpectationsThe CHAMPS method is used in our classroom. Students will know in each lesson how they should communicate, ask for help, what they should be doing, and how they should participate in order to be successful.

Academic ExpectaionsOur curriculum has been divided into rigorously designed units in each academic area. Standards that will be assessed during that unit will be communicated to parents via Seesaw. For most units, students will set goals based on pre assessments and publish those goals on their Seesaw proflie. Students will be expected to complete homework most nights. Homework assignments will also be communicated via Seesaw.

Social ExpectationsSecond Step is a universal, classroom-based social-emotional curriculum that is based on research. Each lesson is developmentally appropriate and sequential. Lessons are designed to teach children how to understand and manage their emotions, control their reactions, be aware of others’ feelings and have the skill to problem solve and make responsible decisions.
